  • Bank of England Museum Trip

    On Thursday 9th May, the Business Studies and Mathematics teams embarked on an educational trip to the Bank of England Museum with 30 students from Year 9 and Year 10. The students were in awe of the high-rise buildings’ ambience, participated well, and enjoyed the tour and presentations.

    The trip enriched their understanding of the history and role of the UK’s central bank, highlighting its differences from high street banks and the impact of technology on banking, especially regarding cyber security.

  • Year 9 and 10 Stem Workshop

    On Tuesday 7th May, Year 9 & 10 students engaged in a hands on STEM workshop that focused on the exciting HS2 project. The morning task encouraged teamwork and exploring the various roles involved in a large scale project. The students were asked to design and build a 3D ultra-modern train station on the HS2 line.

  • Year 11 Business Workshop

    On Wednesday 24th April, Year 11 students at Parkside took part in a Business workshop. The workshop was geared towards preparing students to effectively complete varied levels of written tasks and financial calculations at GCSE level, the main focus was benchmarking the context and quality needed to score the maximum grade available. Throughout the session, students were seen actively engaged, asking questions and disseminating information to group members.

  • Year 9 and 10 Road Safety Workshop

    On Tuesday 23rd April, students in Years 9 and 10 took part in a Road Safety workshop, which was delivered by Riot Act, a performing arts company that delivers workshops in relation to Road Safety. During the workshop students were briefed on road safety guidelines and the negative impact mobile phones can have on road safety.

  • Jack Petchey ‘Talk about the Future’ Workshop

    On Tuesday 19th March students in Year 11 took part in a Jack Petchey Workshop which was based on preparing for interviews and CV writing. Important skills such as public speaking, correct body language and presentation skills, all of which are necessary for these real – life interactions were explored.

  • Daniel Spargo Mabbs Presentation

    On Thursday 7th March, The Daniel Spargo Mabbs Foundation visited Parkside to perform their moving tribute to Daniel Spargo Mabbs in a performance called ‘I love you mum, I promise I won’t die’. The performance started with a history of the foundation and how and why it had been started. Students learned that the foundation was established in order to educate young people on the dangers of drugs.

  • Year 11 Science - Rates of Reaction Practical

    During the February Enrichment Week students in Year 11 came in to carry out their Rates of Reaction practical session, which is required as part of their Science GCSE. Students successfully investigated the effect of concentration, and recorded their findings. Well done Year 11!

    On Wednesday 7th February students at Parkside were treated to a performance of ‘Young Frankenstein’ which was performed by the Performing Arts students from Uxbridge College. The performance was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish, well done to the cast for adapting their performance to fit our stage.

  • Year 9 Practical Learning in English

    Numerous studies have shown that students learn through practical application. Year 9 students were provided with an opportunity to learn the specifics of literacy studies, while showcasing their creativity and acting skills. This was done through enacting chapters of the children’s fiction book ‘Gangsta Granny’ by David Walliams. Students were enthused and thoroughly enjoyed the lesson, they commented on how they are for their next fun filled drama lesson!
